WHO WE WORK WITH

Built around
the specification.

Architects and designers

Talk through a finish before it is locked into the schedule: colour reference, gloss level, substrate and installation environment.

Builders and project managers

Share quantities, programme dates and delivery constraints so scheduling questions are raised early, not at installation.

Fabricators and manufacturers

Coordinate preparation, handling and return of components between fabrication and installation.

SPECIFICATION FIRST

A straight answer
before you commit.

Architectural finishes are judged up close, in changing light and across a run of matching pieces. We start with the specification: the coating product or colour reference, gloss level, substrate, existing finish and where the item will be installed.

Some projects call for a manufacturer-warranted powder coat, which can usually only be issued by that manufacturer’s accredited applicators. Lee Murdock Panels does not claim that accreditation, so we’ll tell you early if a spray-applied finish is not the right fit for your specification.

What to include in a project brief.

01

Drawings or schedule

A finish schedule, drawings or an item list with references, so each piece can be identified.

02

Colour and gloss

The manufacturer, colour name and code, gloss level, and any approved sample or control panel.

03

Substrate and condition

Aluminium, steel or another material; new or previously coated; photographs of the current condition.

04

Size and quantity

Approximate dimensions, the number of pieces and the heaviest or largest item.

05

Environment

Interior or exterior use, and whether the installation is coastal or highly exposed.

06

Programme

Required dates, delivery and collection arrangements, and where the work sits in the installation sequence.

How an enquiry progresses.

01

Review the brief

We read the specification, drawings and photographs, and ask about anything that affects preparation or finish.

02

Confirm suitability

We confirm whether the item, substrate and specified finish suit our workshop, and flag anything that should go elsewhere.

03

Agree the approach

Scope, samples where needed, timing and delivery arrangements are agreed before production work is scheduled.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you
get in touch.

Can you match a specified colour?

Send the manufacturer, colour name, colour code and gloss level, plus a physical sample if one has been approved. We’ll confirm what can be achieved before any work begins.

Do you provide manufacturer-backed powder coat warranties?

No manufacturer accreditation or powder coat warranty is claimed on this website. If your specification requires one, check with the coating manufacturer for its accredited applicators.

Can you refinish existing window frames?

Send photographs, the frame material and existing finish, and whether the frames can be removed and delivered. Suitability and preparation need to be confirmed for each job.

Can we bring a sample in to discuss?

Yes, please call first to arrange a suitable time at the Clayton South workshop.

Do you take one-off or small-batch work?

Tell us the quantity and timing with your brief. We’ll let you know whether the job suits the workshop.
